Iron Infusions - Expert Medical Care and Comfort
At Ponti Health, we offer medically led Iron Infusions for women experiencing iron deficiency across all life stages. An Iron Infusion is a quick and effective way to treat low iron, a common cause of fatigue and weakness. It delivers iron directly into your body through an IV line.
No sedation or down time is required so you can usually get back to your day right away. The big plus? An Iron Infusion provides relief of symptoms faster than oral supplements.
It is essential that you have discussed this procedure with a Doctor prior to booking as there are some potential risks involved.

We're thrilled to support you on your journey to better health. To proceed with your Iron Infusion, we just need a couple of things to ensure the best possible care for you:
Prior to your Iron Infusion Appointment:
A referral letter from your doctor that includes:
- The reason for the infusion
- Any significant medical history including pregnancyYour recent blood test results: To ensure an Iron Infusion is right for you, we'll need to review your recent iron levels (ferritin) and Haemoglobin (Hb). Please provide recent blood test results.
Ferinject - this is the medication we use for the Iron Infusion. It is a prescription only medication - you will need a script for this from your GP which you must fill prior to your appointment and bring the Ferinject in with you. There is a pharmacy conveniently located nearby should you require it.

What To Expect
We want your experience to be as pleasant and reassuring as possible. Here’s what you can expect at your appointment -
Warm Welcome and Professional Assessment: You'll be greeted by our friendly team. One of our Registered Nurses will then review your information and answer any questions, ensuring everything aligns with the Doctor's plan for your care.
We settle you into one of our super comfortable infusion chairs, with some tea and perhaps a few little treats before we begin.
Gentle Cannula Insertion by a Registered Nurse: Our skilled Registered Nurse will carefully clean a small area on your arm and gently insert the cannula. It's a quick procedure, performed with expertise and care.
During your infusion, which typically lasts around 15 minutes you might notice a cool sensation as the iron solution is administered – this is perfectly normal and temporary. Our Registered Nurse will be with you, monitoring you closely and ensuring the process is going smoothly and safely, under the guidance of our Doctors.
Expert Cannula Removal and Post-Infusion Observation (30 Minutes): Once the infusion is complete, our Registered Nurse will gently remove the cannula and apply some pressure and a band aid, similar to what your receive after a blood test.. For your continued well-being, we do ask that you relax with us for another 30 minutes after the infusion. This allows our nursing team to ensure you're feeling absolutely tip-top before you head off.

At Ponti Health, we firmly believe that offering Iron Infusions under the strict guidance of our experienced Doctors and Registered Nurses is absolutely paramount for your safety and well-being. While we understand there might be non-medical companies offering infusion services, this is a medical procedure that requires a controlled clinical environment and the expertise of trained medical professionals for several crucial reasons:
Firstly, accurate diagnosis and assessment are critical. Doctors conduct thorough evaluations to confirm that an Iron Infusion is indeed the right and most appropriate treatment for your specific condition and iron deficiency. This involves considering your full medical history and other potential underlying causes of your symptoms.
Secondly, safe and precise administration is non-negotiable. Registered Nurses are specifically trained in the correct techniques for intravenous access and the safe administration of iron infusions. This minimizes the risk of complications during the procedure.
Thirdly, managing potential reactions is a medical necessity. Although rare, adverse reactions to iron infusions can occur. Having our skilled medical team present means any reaction can be promptly and effectively managed with appropriate medical interventions and equipment immediately available.
Finally, a sterile and controlled environment minimizes infection risk. We are a medical clinic which means strict adherence to stringent hygiene and infection control protocols, ensuring a safe environment for your infusion.
We deliver the highest standard of medical care for all our patients, ensuring your Iron Infusion is not only effective but also as safe and comfortable as possible, under the expert care of our medical team. We believe this level of medical oversight is non-negotiable when it comes to your health.
