Dr. Rydstrand is passionate about a 'whole person' approach to treatment, firmly believing that time spent listening to a person's 'story'—not just their symptoms—is key to formulating an individualised, holistic management plan. With expertise in women's mental health and the complex interplay between trauma and psychiatric conditions, Dr. Rydstrand brings both clinical excellence and deep compassion to patient care.

Dr. Rydstrand has extensive experience working with Veterans as a consultant psychiatrist at the National Centre for Veterans' Healthcare, which has provided her with strong foundational knowledge in managing the aftermath of traumatic exposure. As an EMDR-trained psychiatrist, Dr. Rydstrand strongly advocates for integrating psychotherapies alongside medication in the management of psychiatric illness.

Her work with veterans has highlighted the significant gap in specialised psychiatric services for women who have served or are currently serving in the military—a population she is particularly passionate about supporting.

Dr. Rydstrand chose psychiatry because it allows for spending meaningful time with patients, getting to know them on a deeper level, and understanding how they came to be where they are in life. She views psychiatry as a proper clinical discipline where primary understanding comes through listening to patients' words rather than an emphasis on tests and scans.

Driven by a desire to work in the service of others, Dr. Rydstrand particularly enjoys working as part of a collaborative care team. Her approach emphasises the importance of understanding each patient's unique story and circumstances to develop truly personalised evidence-based treatment plans.
