“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.”
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Dr Susan McSweeney brings a much-needed combination of deep clinical expertise and genuine presence to women's health. Her practice is grounded in careful listening—the kind where you feel truly heard—and shaped by years of walking alongside women through their most significant health journeys. As part of the Ponti Health mission to provide seamless, cohesive medicine, Susan works across the full breadth of women's health and general practice. She supports patients through reproductive planning, pregnancy, and early motherhood, as well as the hormonal and midlife transitions that require a nuanced, expert hand.
Continuity of care matters deeply to Susan, as does taking the time to understand not just your symptoms, but your life, your concerns, and what matters most to you. She works collaboratively with her patients, believing that the best health decisions emerge from partnership—where medical expertise meets your knowledge of yourself, your values, and your circumstances. Clear explanations, informed choices, and genuine respect for your autonomy are central to her practice at Australia’s premier medical clinic.
Clinical Expertise and Academic Foundations
Susan’s medical journey began at the University of Sydney, where she earned a Bachelor of Advanced Science with First Class Honours, followed by her medical degree at the University of Notre Dame Sydney. Her rigorous hospital training at major NSW institutions, including the Royal Hospital for Women, led to a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and her eventual Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Over many years in private practice, Susan has developed a particular depth in comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care. Her clinical expertise spans procedural contraception—including IUD and Implanon insertion—as well as navigating the complexities of the menopause transition and early pregnancy care. She provides expert, integrative management for conditions such as PCOS and endometriosis, viewing these not just as clinical diagnoses, but as conditions that affect every aspect of a woman’s life.
Susan adds to the Ponti Health clinical team as a fluent Mandarin speaker and has worked extensively with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. She works collaboratively with patients, aiming to provide clear explanations and support informed decisions that align with both medical evidence and individual circumstances.
Professional Memberships and Personal Insight

As a mother of two young daughters, Susan brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her care. This grounded, lived experience is particularly valued by women navigating the beautiful, challenging, and transformative stages of life.
