‘The greatest wealth is health’ - Virgil

The GP who has seen what happens when women's health goes unrecognised — and has dedicated her practice to making sure it doesn't.

Dr Heather Shribman is a Sydney-based GP with a distinctive and hard-won clinical focus: the intersection of women's hormonal health, ADHD, menstrual disorders, weight management and lifestyle medicine. She brings this breadth of integrated expertise together in a single consultation room.

Before joining Ponti Health, Heather worked for years in emergency departments. She witnessed, repeatedly, what happens when conditions go unrecognised for too long — patients in crisis, in pain, in exhaustion, finally presenting to the one place that couldn't turn them away. That experience didn't leave her. It became the foundation of her entire approach to general practice: intervene early, look at the whole person, and take women's symptoms seriously from the very first appointment.

Heather's special interests span women's health, antenatal care, metabolic health, weight management and chronic disease prevention. She's completed advanced training in family planning, sexual health and paediatrics, including the Sydney Child Health Program and the FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health. Her background in emergency medicine and rural healthcare has shaped her into a doctor who listens deeply, thinks holistically and acts decisively when it matters most.

What sets Heather apart is her belief in proactive, personalised care. She's passionate about early intervention and working collaboratively with patients to develop health plans that actually fit into real life. Rather than quick fixes, she focuses on meaningful lifestyle changes that stick—because sustainable health is the only kind worth pursuing.

Those years in the hospital system taught Heather to navigate complex health challenges with both clinical rigour and compassion. At Ponti Health, she thrives in our multidisciplinary environment where specialists collaborate seamlessly. Whether you're navigating perimenopause, managing PCOS/PMDD/Endometriosis, seeking support for weight loss, or simply wanting a GP who takes the time to truly understand your health story, Heather brings both clinical excellence and genuine care to every consultation.

Outside the clinic, you'll find Heather in the ocean, on her bike, or juggling the beautiful chaos of parenthood. She understands first-hand the challenge of balancing health, work and life—and she brings that lived experience into her practice every day.
