Dr. Maria-Elena Lukeides is a doctorate-trained clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults across diverse settings. Her clinical training and work have spanned NGOs, community mental health, and psychiatric inpatient and community services, including early intervention for first-episode psychosis and specialist personality disorder clinics, pain and rehabilitation services, specialist trauma services, and support for children and adolescents in out-of-home care and adoption pathways.
Since moving into private practice over 15 years ago, Maria-Elena has continued to specialise in trauma recovery—supporting individuals affected by childhood trauma, complex grief, and adult-onset traumatic experiences. She also treats a broad range of psychological concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, interpersonal difficulties, low self-esteem, and workplace-related stress. In addition to her clinical expertise, she has a strong interest in working with individuals navigating major life transitions and the more profound questions of identity, purpose, and personal transformation.
Maria-Elena is committed to providing warm, attuned, and collaborative care. She prioritises a strong therapeutic relationship where clients feel seen, heard, and deeply understood. Her work is grounded in evidence-based best practice. It draws from a range of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR and mindfulness-based interventions. Clients can expect both compassion and clarity—leaving sessions with practical tools for change, greater self-awareness, and an increased sense of emotional well-being.
